About Us

A Community Pursuing Jesus Christ
We are a church community living in Tauranga whose lives have been transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our desire is to proclaim and live out the good news of Jesus seeing God bring hope our city. God desires to meet with all people and we desire that everyone meet their God. Simple. Jesus is for all people and so are we.

Our vision as a church is to enjoy God together as he transforms our lives through the good news of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to know God and make Him known by communicating and living out the unchanging truth of the person and work of Jesus Christ in ways society and culture can comprehend. We believe God reveals himself when we gather in both large and small settings to declare, pray, study the Bible and love people. Our purpose is to equip people for their life purpose in Jesus Christ!

We are a Calvary Chapel church affiliated with the Calvary Chapel family of churches worldwide.  Click here to find out more about Calvary Chapel.

Our Story
In Luke 14:23, Jesus tells the story of a great banquet. Many were invited to the party but excuses were made and the attendees were few. The master became angry and sent his servants out onto the streets to invite the fringe of society: the poor, the maimed, lame and blind. After doing so and room remaining, the master said, “Go out into the highways and byways, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled” (Luke 14:23).

Shoreline Church is God’s ‘invitational heart’ to see everyone reached for Jesus Christ. The gospel invitation must go into every area of society, inviting people to receive God’s free gift of grace. Everything is ready and it is our joy to “compellingly” invite everyone to Jesus’ table. May God’s house be filled through the life-giving invitation of Jesus Christ.

Our Approach
Our sole aim is to explain Jesus by teaching the Bible simply and expose Jesus by living out God’s word together in the world.

At Shoreline this happens in three ways in three different areas:

Theological: Firstly, we believe that the worship of God must be informed by the Bible and therefore theological. As a community our desire is to know God.
Relational: Secondly, we discover God through relationship with Him and with one another. Shoreline is a church community that experiences God together.
Missional: Finally, knowing God and experiencing Him together, we live on mission together with God to make Him known to the whole world.

These three things take place:

In Our Gatherings: Shoreline as a church gathers corporately for public worship services on Sundays to praise, pray and study God’s word together.
In Community Groups: We also meet throughout the week in smaller Community Groups throughout the Tauranga area “doing life together.”
Individually: Shoreline Church isn’t a building, it’s people living out the good news of God right where they are. Whatever your context be it a mum, business executive, student, etc., people will be equipped to live out the good news of the gospel right where they are.
